The climb to Jebel Shams asks more of a battery's cooling than anything on flat ground does, and the descent runs almost entirely on regeneration. That is easier on the brakes than it sounds — so much easier that the discs corrode from disuse rather than wear out, which is a fault we look for here specifically.
The Tesla is well known but far less common here than the search figures for the name alone suggest, and the work it needs here is drive-unit and pack work, plus the route and charging profile changes that a thousand-kilometre country needs. Both get done in one place, which for an electric car matters more than it does for an engine: the diagnostic access is most of the job. One workshop, in Muscat, and that is deliberate: the equipment an EV actually needs — cell-level battery work, high-voltage insulation testing, manufacturer software — does not split usefully across small branches. Owners from Sohar and Sur drive in, and the mobile unit covers the Capital Area.
