The fifth-generation eDrive unit combines motor, transmission and power electronics in one housing and uses no rare-earth magnets at all. It is reliable, but when it does need attention it needs the right diagnostic access — and so does the battery management system, which is where most i-series faults are actually read from.

We can. Generic scanners miss most of what a BMW battery management system reports, so we use manufacturer-level diagnostics instead.
Yes. Slow charging is usually the onboard charger, the charging port or a thermal limit being applied by the battery management system, and telling those apart takes a proper diagnostic session rather than a guess.
