The climb to Jebel Shams asks more of a battery's cooling than anything on flat ground does, and the descent runs almost entirely on regeneration. That is easier on the brakes than it sounds — so much easier that the discs corrode from disuse rather than wear out, which is a fault we look for here specifically.
The Hongqi is uncommon, well equipped, and short of anyone who knows the platform, and the work it needs here is high-voltage architecture diagnostics and comfort-system electronics. Both get done in one place, which for an electric car matters more than it does for an engine: the diagnostic access is most of the job.
