The climb to Jebel Shams asks more of a battery's cooling than anything on flat ground does, and the descent runs almost entirely on regeneration. That is easier on the brakes than it sounds — so much easier that the discs corrode from disuse rather than wear out, which is a fault we look for here specifically.
The Rivian is very rare here, and every one of them privately imported, and the work it needs here is quad-motor drive units, air suspension and over-the-air update handling outside the home market. Both get done in one place, which for an electric car matters more than it does for an engine: the diagnostic access is most of the job.
