Who is XPeng?
XPeng was founded in 2014 in Guangzhou, China, and today has headquarters in Guangzhou and Amsterdam. Its shares trade on the New York Stock Exchange (XPEV) and the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (9868), according to XPeng's own announcement of its first Gulf dealer partnership. The company presents itself as a technology business first: its cars run XPeng's in-house software and XPILOT driver-assistance systems, and it updates them over the air.
Overseas growth has been fast. When it signed a distributor in Bahrain in April 2025, XPeng said it was already in more than 30 international markets and aimed to take more than half of its sales from outside China within ten years, as reported by CnEVPost.
The Volkswagen partnership
Volkswagen is not XPeng's owner, but it is a strategic shareholder. The Volkswagen Group completed the purchase of around 4.99% of XPeng's share capital in December 2023, and the two companies are jointly developing two mid-size Volkswagen-brand electric cars, starting with an SUV, due on the road in 2026.
Is XPeng sold in Oman?
Not through a confirmed official channel yet. XPeng entered the Gulf through the UAE, where Ali & Sons became its dealer, then added Pioneer Motors in Qatar and Ebrahim K. Kanoo in Bahrain. In the Bahrain announcement, XPeng said it aimed to complete coverage of all six GCC countries, including Oman, during 2025. We searched Omani and regional press in English and Arabic and found no announcement of an official XPeng distributor, showroom or launch in Oman as of September 2026.

XPeng G6
The XPeng G6 is the brand's mid-size coupe SUV and, with the G9, one of the first two models XPeng brought to the Gulf. The 2025 update moved the Long Range version to an 80.1 kWh LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery with 535 km of WLTP range, 218 kW of power and a peak charging rate of 451 kW.
XPeng G9
The G9 is the larger five-seat SUV and XPeng's flagship in most export markets. The updated European Long Range model offers 585 km of WLTP range, while the AWD Performance version produces 423 kW. We cover it in more depth on our XPeng G9 service page.
XPeng X9
The XPeng X9 is a 5.3-metre, seven-seat MPV with sliding rear doors and a 2+2+3 seating layout. In Europe it comes as a 94.8 kWh LFP Standard Range model with 535 km, or with a 110 kWh NMC pack giving 615 km (front-wheel drive) or 580 km (all-wheel drive, 370 kW). XPeng had named the X9 among the first models planned for Bahrain.
XPeng P7+ and G7
The P7+ saloon and G7 SUV were both relaunched in January 2026 with range-extender versions, which pair a petrol generator with a battery that can cover 430 km on electricity alone in China's test. Pure electric G7 versions are also sold, with CLTC ranges of 602 km and 702 km. EVS Oman already services the XPeng G7 and the earlier XPeng P7.

Specification also varies by market. When XPeng opened its Abu Dhabi flagship showroom in December 2025, the G6 and G9 on display were quoted with ranges of up to 570 km and DC charging of up to 380 kW, with 10–80% in around 20 minutes, according to DriveArabia. Those figures are lower than the updated European ones, so check the exact version of any car you consider rather than relying on the newest brochure.

Is XPeng reliable?
There is no simple answer yet, and anyone who gives you one is guessing. XPeng is a young company: it was founded in 2014, and it opened orders for the G9 in Europe only in 2023. We found no independent long-term reliability study covering XPeng, and no reliability data at all for XPeng cars in Gulf conditions.
What we can say is where the risks sit. XPeng's cars rely heavily on software, sensors and cameras for driver assistance, climate control and battery management. That makes them excellent when everything is up to date, and more dependent on dealer or specialist support than a simpler car when something goes wrong.
