This is the most searched question about the car, and the answer is clear: the 9X is a hybrid that plugs in. Until the 9X, Zeekr had only sold fully electric models, which is why many people assume it is a battery electric vehicle. According to CnEVPost's report on the China launch, it is the brand's first hybrid.
The powertrain combines a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 205 kW with either two or three electric motors. The battery is large for a hybrid, 55 kWh or 70 kWh depending on version, so the car can cover everyday driving on electricity alone and use the engine for long trips. For owners, that means two things. You can plug it in at home or at a public charger like a full EV, and you still carry a petrol engine that needs its own care. It sits between the fully electric models most people know from Zeekr and a conventional petrol SUV.

Two points stand out. First, the European car uses the smaller 55 kWh battery and the two-motor setup, which explains its lower power and range figures. Second, the UAE page confirms the 70 kWh battery for all three trims but does not yet publish range or charging times, so treat any GCC range number you see elsewhere with caution until Zeekr confirms it.
Size and seating
The 9X is a genuinely large SUV. CarNewsChina lists it at 5,239 mm long, 2,029 mm wide and 1,819 mm tall on a 3,169 mm wheelbase, with six seats in a 2+2+2 layout. Zeekr Europe gives a kerb weight of 2,900 kg. In July 2026 Zeekr also launched a five-seat version in China, reported by CnEVPost, but the GCC and European cars announced so far are six-seaters.
Zeekr 9X range: electric and total
Range figures for the 9X vary a lot depending on the battery and the test cycle, which is where most confusion comes from.
- 70 kWh battery (China): 380 km of electric range on the CLTC cycle, with a combined petrol-and-electric range of up to 1,250 km.
- 55 kWh battery (Europe): up to 179 km of electric range and up to 737 km combined, which Zeekr Europe labels as manufacturer targets.
China's CLTC cycle and the test used for European figures run under different conditions, and the batteries differ too, so the two sets of results are not directly comparable. Real-world range also drops at motorway speeds and in high heat, when the air conditioning works hard. For a daily commute in Muscat, though, even the lower European electric figure would cover most drivers' weekly mileage without starting the engine, provided the car is charged regularly.
Zeekr 9X charging
Charging is where the 9X is most unusual for a hybrid. It uses a 900V electrical architecture, and the 70 kWh version supports what Zeekr calls 6C charging. CnEVPost reports a 20–80% charge in about 9 minutes, and CarNewsChina's launch report gives 8 minutes 21 seconds. Zeekr Europe quotes 10–80% in 9.5 minutes for the 55 kWh car.

Zeekr 9X price: what is confirmed
Only a few markets have official pricing so far:
- China: launched from 465,900 yuan for the Max trim, rising to 599,900 yuan for the Obsidian Black, according to CnEVPost. The five-seat version launched in July 2026 from a limited-time price of 451,900 yuan.
- UAE: Zeekr UAE lists the Ultra at AED 369,900, the Hyper at AED 409,900 and the Obsidian at AED 439,900, with a pre-booking deposit of AED 10,000 and delivery from December 2026 onwards.
- Oman: no official price has been published.
Demand in China has been strong. CnEVPost reported more than 10,000 firm orders in the first 13 minutes after launch, and by July 2026 cumulative deliveries had approached 70,000 units.
Zeekr 9X in Oman and the GCC
The Middle East is the first export region for the 9X. At Geely Auto's earnings briefing on 30 April 2026, chief executive Jerry Gan said the 9X would be exported to the Middle East first, in June, followed by Central Asia and then Europe (CnEVPost). The car had its first UAE preview at a Zeekr track day at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi on 29 June 2026 (Review Central ME).
For Oman, the picture is less settled. We could not find an announcement of an official Zeekr distributor, showroom, price or launch date for the 9X in Oman as of September 2026. That matters for buyers. A car bought outside Oman or through a private importer may not carry the same manufacturer warranty or local dealer support as one sold through an official channel. Before paying a deposit, ask the seller in writing who honours the warranty in Oman, where software updates and parts will come from, and whether the car was built to GCC specification.

A plug-in hybrid carries two sets of hardware: a high-voltage battery and electric drive system, and a petrol engine with its own fluids and service needs.
